I'm all alone!
Every month Jake and the Young Men/Scouts head to the wilderness for their monthly campout. Tonight they headed to Ashton to build ice caves. Oh my goodness, its going to be so cold! So I'm sitting at home by myself tonight. I'm not sure what to do. I usually go to Jamba, then get some soup for dinner. I love creamy soup and I usually eat it while Jake's gone. I checked out the fresh soup at Geraldine's and they only had taco and clam chowder. Uck. So I stopped at Walmart and got a can of soup. Yum! I usually get excited that I can stay home and watch my chic flicks and eat Jambas and soup. Sometimes if I'm driving I even listen to country on the radio! What a rebel! But then after I do all that, I get home and I get a little depressed because its just me and the cat. It makes me sad and lonely- as much fun as the cat is. I miss Jake!! And the cat whines.

2008
So I've been feeling guilty about a post a couple back when I complained about how horrible 2008 was. So in no particular order, here's a list of all the wonderful things that happened in 2008:
1. My nephew, Kaleb Porter Lenda was born. He is so cute and has the funniest personality. He's so spoiled though. I guess that's okay. How can you help but love him!

2. I earned my Young Women Recognition award. Ya know the one that you're supposed to get when you're 18? Well it took me an extra ten years! I'm glad for the second chance! I love being a Young Women leader!

4. We saw tons of new birds. I won't bore you with them. If you want to see some of them, go here.
5. We went to Hogle Zoo. I don't remember ever going before. And there was a million people there, but it was still very fun!
6. Jake and I celebrated our Five Year Anniversary. I can't believe how fast five years has gone. I'm so lucky to have such a stud for my hubby!
I'm sorry to have complained about everything. I am so blessed and I should recognize it more!

HOORAY for a NEW YEAR!
I am so glad 2008 is over. Am I the only one? I don't know. It seems to have stretched on FOREVER! We've had an especially fabulous year (did you all catch the sarcasm?)! I know everybody goes through trials, and I know that we will get our share, but did they have to come all in one year? Between family issues, health issues, job issues I could really use a vacation! Anyone have free miles you're not using and want to donate to the Ricks? I am looking forward to making 2009 the best year yet! It WILL be! Happy New Year to everyone! (sorry to complain)
Kids In Mind
I don't know about all of you, but I hate it when I go to see a movie that I've been looking forward to, and am surprised by an especially horrible word or scene. Anything that I wouldn't want my grandma to be in the room with me for or whatever. I have found this page called KIDS IN MIND. They watch the movies for you and give it three numbers based on sex, language, and violence. They don't review it and tell you how great the direction was or anything like that. I love this! I've started going there for every movie we're going to see. They list every swear word, every sex scene, and every time somebody gets stabbed or something. They're pretty detailed, too. Sometimes all thats listed is that people are swimming and you see men without shirts and cleavage. Anyway, if you are like me at all, I hate to be surprised! Go check it out!
